Reports surfaced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is separating children from their parents at the U.S. border and detaining & prosecuting all parents crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with their children. More than 700 children have already been separated from adults claiming to be their parents since October 2017, including more than 100 children under the age of four, some as young as 18 months old. This cruel and needless practice rips apart families at the border and locks up children in detention facilities thousands of miles away from their parents – sometimes for weeks or even months. This draconian practice is immoral, unjust, and inhumane. It is critical our Members of Congress hear their constituents decry this practice and call on them to do everything in their power to stop it.
